Floating Anchors
Like the elusive primordial soup
the colors, clamors, commotions clatter
and swirl and blend into the world you live
and sweep you up into a whirlwind.
Do you remember
the mitten you lost, cried over, and replaced?
the ice cream that fell off the cone and onto the pavement in the sun?
the charm that fell off your silver bracelet?
So easy to become a leaf tattered by the hurricane
or a puppy fixated on a tiny anthill in the green grass.
I firmly anchor my feet on the ground
but allow my head to ponder amongst the clouds.
