A Cry Unheard
I gaze upon the ruined lands, torn from barbaric warfare, suffering a feeble existence,
fought by helpless creatures shunned by Society’s cruel verdict
where even the most adept are left to rot and reek in pitiful subsistence
an unstable future not even the Filthy Fatcats and Gargantuan Gentlemen may predict
a selfish World ignores its brothers’ grave pleas
with rations thin and housing torn, poverty levels incomprehensible
destruction; chaos; violence; abuse; all which no one sees
The “Civilized” avoid, ignore, forget, neglect, reject; how insensible!
despite the Genie staring them in the face, the “Powerful” refuse
Snaps of Fingers and Strokes of Pens could thwart the Wrong
alas, content with ignorant approval and undeserved fame, They choose
and Famine, Malady, Injustice grow all the more strong
And I am left to ponder with a sigh
“Why am I the only one who hears them cry?”
