I am from

I am from the bitter argument with my girlfriend when she surprises me with a cat she adopted for me.
From the grief and sadness which pours out of her when she realizes what she has done.
Norton, my new kitten, staring at me with wide puppy dog eyes from my cupped hands, throughout the

argument.

I am from the days of apologizing and confessing to Cindy, my girlfriend about how Norton might have

been the greatest thing to happen in my life.
From years of stitching and patching up the various objects Norton shreds in his path of destruction.
Cindy protesting about the amount of time I have spent with my cat and how I never spend that much
time with her.

I am from the passing stares of strangers as I walk around downtown Manhattan with Norton sitting in

my shirt pocket.
From wide-eyed strangers approaching me to ask various questions, about my beautiful Norton.
Norton sitting still and peaceful in my shirt pocket observing the world around him.

I am from Norton peering out the window of the airplane, while perched on my shoulder.
From the oooo’s and ahhhh’s of the other passengers as the study Norton.
Esther Newberg, my agent, whose opinion about cats changed within 30 minutes of meeting Norton.

I am from Norton flying first class on long trips to Paris and behaving wonderfully.
From him receiving smoked salmon and milk and lapping it up grotesquely.
Harrison Ford being aquiscent about allowing Norton into his house.
