10 years..
"10 years left."
Maybe it was those words that changed everything.
Maybe if the numbers were different their lives would be too.
10 years ago Nannette was thirty,
10 times 3.
She was diagnosed with cancer and given 10 good years,
Whatever that means.
10 months later,
Tori was 10 weeks old
She was abused, neglected and functioned as a child two weeks old would.
Nannette and her husband took her in as their own child,
And adopted her 10 days later.
When Zack was five,
10 divided by two.
He functioned as a two year old.
And to this day five years later,
No one knows what’s specifically wrong.
One year later,
Jacob was 10
And became depressed with the thought of losing his mother.
But instead of getting help he would lie,
Simply because he didn't know any better himself.
But it wasn't till three years ago,
When TJ was in 10th grade,
That everything went wrong.
Nannette’s sister was diagnosed with breast cancer,
Nannette was worse than ever
And to this day,
Three years later,
Nothings better.
Maybe if she wouldn't have heard 10 years,
10 years earlier
Things would be better.
But instead they will suffer,
Simply because
10 years is over.
