Dear Child of the Thief of Smiles
She with the brightest heart,
She unnoticed
He left as quickly as he came,
The thief of smiles.
No verdict to be read.
"She lies" they said.
She with the pounding thoughts.
She with no one to listen.
You'll never catch the wicked soul
Love the child of the thief of smiles
In death, remember a life gone
A life stolen
A life, a wife, a mother, pushed by the voices
Forgive the child of the thief of smiles
For she is broken and scarred
Forgot the truth, poor Alex, erased the past.
They appear, disappear then reappear again
Voices like floating shadows
Remember, what you see is you.
A childhood forced off a cliff,
Removed by the lady draped in blood and something she calls love.
Dear child of the thief of smiles,
Don't forget that I love you
Dear child of the thief of smiles,
Don't forget that I'm real
Dear child of the thief of smiles,
Don't forget that what you think you see is you
