What Is In A Mouth MAG
i always held the Communion wafer
under my tongue
to let it dissolve.
because my mother said you should never press your teeth
into the Eucharist
since it's the bread-flesh of the savior
and so disrespectful to
chew.
i always held my palm open and out flat
with the slice of silver bridle's bit
across my hand like the arrow on a compass's face.
and the horse would
open its chimney rock teeth
and into its mouth
accept its fate.
