Let's pretend.
I'll grab the basket,
You'll wrap the sandwiches,
And we'll find an empty field.

Let's pretend.
I'll get in the boat,
You'll row the oars,
And we'll watch the sunset.

Let's pretend.
I'll take this swing,
You'll take that one,
And we'll be children again.

Let's pretend.
I'll grab my coat,
You'll hold open the door,
And we'll walk out together.

Let's pretend.
I'll shed my tears,
You'll be there,
And we could stay forever.

Let's pretend.
I'll find a white dress,
You'll wear the tux,
And we'll stand before the garden.

Let's pretend,
Let's pretend
That love exists.

The author's comments:
With my different thoughts on whether "love exists" or not, I wrote this poem to portray the fact that one might believe it doesn't exist but still all the while living with this "true love". It's a love poem I wrote in response to my confused thoughts on love as a growing teenager and watching my parents as I grow up.
