Ship of Dying Dreams
The sails flaired up.
I was dragged
On board kicking and screaming
Splinters edged
Their way into my hands
As i grasped the
Edges of the wooden ship.
It was my last hope for escape.
The once beautiful sea,
Was now black with hatred.
My dress is torn,
One shoe is missing,
My mouth feels as if I have swallowed
Gallons of the dark sand below.
They have stopped my screams,
Gagging me
And I am too exhausted
To fight back.
My wrists are violently bounded
To the hard and
Disgusting flag pole.
I watch
With distaste in my eyes
As the drunken, sliver of a man
Captures yet another
Poor soul.
She is tied
To sit next to me.
I don’t know
How long we
Sat upon the rusty floor,
I am told
We shall never
Be set free for
We are to be
Sold as slaves.
They offer but
Crumbs of food,
Sips of dirt water
But I refuse,
While looking down to my stomach
I cannot think
For just myself and
Accept the
Necessities of life.
So as I gasp
My last breath,
Dying I am pleased
To know that
My unborn child will never
Have to be in this place
The ship of dying dreams
And hope
In the lively sea.
