We're Not Special
I never thought that I'd be one of those girls
who wore her hair like they tell me
and the clothes like they sell me
I always thought I'd be unique
stick out like a broken knee.
But then I found out
from some loveless doubt
that I'll never find what I need
and now, now I see
We're not special at all
I didn't want to believe it, but we all fall
Sometimes we're broken
Sometimes we're left all alone
and sometimes we can find our way home
In all the world,
I never though
that I would hold
such a pain so fought
but we all do
We chase after love
like it's the answer
but what is the question shouted above
We never really know pain
until our heart shatters in vain
as we lay on the ground
bleeding out
clinging to the pieces of what we once were
we place them together
like a puzzle of ourselves
but we just can't seem to find that last piece
that last piece of me
that keeps you alive
until you find
what it means to be truly happy
and that's not some sappy
love song
that's not holding hands while you stroll along
that is loving yourself
for all that you are.
