When The Door Closed
He said “hate me”
and that’s a little funny
you see,
for even though he shattered my soul
Left burning coals within my heart
I could never see him as a monster
He said “find someone better than me”
which was strange,
even though he brought me back to the bottom
I willed him to change
bring us back to the past
for all I could remember were yester-years
He said “I’m sorry”
as he walked out the door
I begged him to stay
To change
And he chose to leave
after all those memories pouring through my mind
after all those moments our souls intertwined
and to me
that’s all a little funny
