Pools
I've drowned.
I've drowned in my own words,
In my own footsteps.
I've sunk beneath the surface
Of my own lies
And attempted to swim.
But you,
You've always fought the current.
You've always stayed afloat.
You make it look easy.
But in reality,
You're too afraid to jump,
Too afraid to let anything
Wash away that deceiving exterior.
It's better when no one knows.
It's better when no one's in too deep.
And I've tried to convince you
That sometimes you have to fall.
I've tried to convince you
That I'd catch you.
I've drowned before.
And you,
You'll always stay afloat.
It's just impossible to drown when
You're as shallow as
A baby pool.
