Hiding For Your Own Good
I look up and you look down,
now we will go all around
This is a game I hate to play
even though it’s better this way
You can never see me here
When you do’s a day I fear
Then I’ll be exposed for sure
and fall so deep into your lure
I call it my own sick pride,
don’t feelings coincide
My mind’s a haven,
a safe place,
somehow you’ve invaded this space
If you were to try and breach
feelings I keep out of reach
I would feel your love,
feel your hate,
you’d rip open my own gates
You’re unaware how my love
is a toxic kind of dove
Your future’s bright,
so I hold back
I would taint you
with all this black
I’ll spin to a timeless dance,
given our sad happenstance
We’ll never meet,
I am to blame
But I will never be the same
