Strength that was mine
Combing through
These broken beams,
Once strong
Expanding my chest.
They bent
And splintered
And snapped under weight.
They drifted down
Light as air,
Released a heaviness
Like glaring, burdening
Tears.
Nothing is there
In the fragile case
The core of my strength.
I reach down
I can’t pull myself upright
And I fold into what is left.
A weight I cannot bear
A foreign place I inhabit,
Holding me back.
Let me breath.
