Last Man Standing
The last little protester
Stands with his arms wide
Feet spread apart
Grin on his face
The gunmen stare him down
Jaws clenched in focus
Fingers anticipating
Turning off the safety
The protester just laughs
“Come at me,”
He says
“Give me all you’ve got.”
One soldier sucks in a breath. “Ready.”
The protester’s fate is sealed.
“Aim.”
He turns away from the gunmen, face towards the sun
“Fire.”
