The Prostitute
Forlorn, spirit torn,
heart battered, tattered, scattered.
Pulse decaying, ends fraying.
Why? Why!
Almighty Lord above,
can you not send me a mere white dove?
I pray everyday that I not stray down the path hidden from your love.
Yet I am here,
and my dirt ridden face, stained of tears.
And no one cares.
Oh! but how they stare.
Knowing my guilt and disgrace.
I cant show my face for surly, rash judgment will take place.
Lord, Lord of high save me.
I know not of who I was.
Nor who I've become.
The girl I used to be is not me.
Lord! Strip me of these shackles and set me free!
Take me from these sinister men who use and abuse me!
Lord, my God, I wish for your love to shine upon my face.
I desire to be once more, clean before the glory of the Lord.
