"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head)."
-Sylvia Plath

Start in the bloody
waters of a sunset sea,
the smell of salt and battle waves
attempting to pull you under.
Let them.

Sink below the rabid orange foam,
it is here that you will glimpse
the last streaks of gold
from a dying sun.

The next step of your journey
occurs below the horizon,
only when you allow your mind
to move past the now green waters
and beyond your bluing body
will you loose yourself
and be able to float,
to rise above the waters
and find yourself dripping
on an indigo shore,
a salt-slick, sea-swept
indigo shore
someplace somewhere
someplace somewhere
someplace somewhere
safe—
safe between the noises of heaven
and the colors of earth.

Sigh inwardly.
As the last dark bubbles
curl from your lips
it is time to sink
into the violet wraps
of death's embrace.
Close you eyes and sleep well my darling,
you are so beautiful—
drowning in the rainbow.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

Aw, wonderful! Thank you! Each wave lifted me up and then sent me crashing into the muddy sand of a Louisiana beach. Each time I pushed off and swam after my boyfriend ex-captain of the swim team! Haha! He even had the fortune of watching a school of fish swim through a wave!

Probably because it's a disturbingly angsty death poem XD

I've been to the ocean before! And I know how you feel! Purely for bragging rights (There's a forum on this site called "Where is the weirdest place you've ever written?" or something along those lines...And we all get a wee bit competitive.) I once wrote a hiaku about writing poetry on a beach! Mahaha! I've mostly been to the west coast where it's to cold to swim and I live someplace land locked. Mark my words, one day I will live near the ocean!

Psh, bein' creepy is fun! And I'm so glad you liked it! Ah, the ocean is fantastic. A little scary for someone like me who gets overwhemed by all that water, but absolutel awe inspiring. You should definitly go swimming in one if you ever get the chance.

Oh wow! That was so beautiful! The ending was a wee bit alarming but it was sort of like all my near death expirences... Alarming yet one feels fine. And so tired. So. Tired. Tehe! Being creepy! Anywho I love the imagery! I've never been swimming in the ocean but I feel like I just did! ♥

This was so creative and spectacular! And the title goes well with it too. The last verse: awesome. "'...its time to sink, into the violet wraps, of death's embrace......" I love the way you incorporated colours into everything..
