I feel like we are falling apart.
Somewhere deep inside of me, I know it’s true.
I don’t want to believe it –
I don’t want to believe we have drifted
because of the distance.
The way I speak to you and the way you speak to me
Our voices are clouded and clogged
With fake laughs and fake sympathy.
You ask me how my family is doing.
I say we’re getting through the hard times.
I ask you how’s school.
You say it’s better.
I feel a catch in my throat when you say you’re
busy for the next couple of weeks.
That’s too bad; I was hoping we could hang out.
You talk about your new friend like she is gold.
I have no one to talk about.
I feel anger and pain and I regret never answering
your calls and texts.
If only you could understand the way I was feeling,
But communication was lacking.
“I have to go, I’ll call you back …”
And something tells me you won’t.

I almost cried. This is how I feel with some of my friends. We used to be practically sisters, and we still are basically, but now we go to different schools and I feel like things will never be quite the same....loved the poem. So good.

Life is too short. Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can. Apologize when you should. And let go of what you can't change. Love deeply and forgive quickly. Take chances, give everything and have no regrets. Life is too short to be unhappy. You have to take the good with the bad. Smile when you are sad. Love what you have, always. Remember what you had, always forgive and learn from stupid mistakes. People change and things go wrong. But always remember; life goes on!!!!!

Whoa i can totally relate except thats how he is with me not me with him

It's insane to think how simple this was. A short story if anything else besides poetry it would be. To think it was published in their monthly magazine. Congradulations! I think it's funny how the simplest of disappointments can inspire you to write such a piece.

I'm sorry you are/were going through this/that (I'm replying to some older posts...) I wouldn't wish this upon anyone, but I will tell you that it will get better, and you will be okay no matter what happens.

Cody- I'm quite disappointed that you seem to think my writing is barely poetic. I too was very shocked that Teen ink picked this piece of mine for their magazine, until I realized how much of an impact events like this make on a lot of peoples lives.

Thank you Michelle

I haven't visited teenink in awhile, so I've noticed things are different, and my poems are in different categories. Thank you both for your feedback.
