Old Friends
Soft wind blows the leaves
birds sing a sweet melady
bright colors of fall flow through the air
walkdown the path as I have a million times before
smile sweetly, when you see his slightly wrinkled face sound asleep
you gently place your hand on his shoulder
and whisper low "Hey you."
his eyes open wide, face all a glow
his voice comes low, but same as before
it makes me smile thats all his
"How are you, my dear friend?" is all he says
as we sit there under the tree
watching the wind sweep away the years
bringing back the memories.
