Wrinkling and folding
Like the thinnest tissue paper.
When the light hits, the paper burns to glass and silk
Reflecting the heavens on its smooth surface
Stretching out to the farthest stars and beyond
The only two in the universe
Are you and me.

Me
With my head like scissors
Cutting through your paper surface effortlessly
Demanding Poseidon to move aside
At my very touch

And you
Rippling and bending with endless secrets
What moves you?
Does the answer lie in the reaches of Heaven?
Or in the souls which inhabit your depths?

I will never know
Because I am doomed to stay here
Floating above your heart
Until the release of death
When I can sink beneath the sky

I was away on an island for a few weeks and had a lot of time to study the water. This is the result.

All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers.
Orison Swett Marden

"The role of a writer is not to say what we all can say, but what we are unable to say." - Anais Nin

we speak in hushed voices so as to not wake our memories

I just loved it! Beautiful metaphor
