Waves
This world is full of colors,
But sadness turned you blind.
Your eyes gave out the day your heart had enough of the unkind.
You let life make you bitter,
You let it steal the way your soul would shine.
Every time I tried to lend a hand,
You would swim further from the land,
Claiming you were fine.
“You can’t handle those waves,”
I warned you,
“They are going to swallow your body up,
And they will never let go.”
You only turned your head,
Thinking you knew best,
But the only thing you really know,
Is that heart ache whose home lays your chest.
I’m sorry you were hurt,
I’m sorry you were burnt by the fire meant to keep you warm.
But that’s no reason to let the tide take you,
I want to shake you,
To make your blind eyes see,
Life is unfair,
You’re going to bleed,
But scars,
They fade,
It takes time,
Just wait.
But you had already chosen your fate,
An unchangeable, cowardly mistake.
The waves were far too fast,
While I was far too late.
