I'll never stop caring, but if you decide to push me away I'll go.

Highway
The highway, a usually dreaded place
Angry drivers and clouded traffic
The sound of speeding monsters and honking horns

But sitting in the passenger side
Watching the flashes of the road go by
You realize the slightest bit of beauty

You notice a pink and orange sunset drifting away
Bright autumn leaves in the forest beside you
Fields of maize whisk away
Vivid thoughts waft through your mind

You picture the creature prancing around the forest
Squirrels scurry up trees
Songbirds cling to berries
Rabbits frolic through meadows

Suddenly you blink
The visions fade as you look
Only to find the highway
Dancing away behind you

I wrote this piece on a bus ride back from one of my volleyball games. I wasn't in the best mood since we had lost, and the whole time I was just staring out of the window at the autumn forest next to the road. We had taken many highway routes that bus ride and I was mesmerized by the vibrant, yet very calm sight next to me. So I got out my pencil and notebook and came up with this. It reminds me that everything hold a bit of wonder.
