Poetry needs life
When writing a poem I use myself
A self of pain that bleeds through pages
A self of joy that brings words to life
A self of wonder that leads a mind to question
A self forgotten that must be found in words
A self of fantasy that sends truth to reality
A self that's hidden so meaning must be found
And a self of life that breaths into words
I don't use poetry for the good of myself
For the good of itself poetry uses me.
