Dilated
Dilated
The vortex reaches dangerously
towards the edge,
It falters, alters-
but does not shrink.
It plays,
beckons, cries,
It laughs and grows
but never reaches it’s destination.
How sad,
Any larger and the vortex
Would consume you-
Was that your purpose?
The bottomless black
Would spill over the ledge-
Engulfing all,
Digesting,
Decaying,,
Yet you knock on my door
With eyes like the galaxy
And feign innocence.
I dare you
Tell me when this began,
How could you let this grow so vast?
I demand to know
Tell me, tell me.
Why you
And not I?
I’ve trained for this, I’ve studied,
I was ready.
And yet, I was not.
You can leave now,
I have no interest in your presence-
That mocking pit,
That virulent opiate.
How strange-
It pulls
And settles.
You smile as I,
What liars.
