Dear Shyanne
I've never had a closer friend.
It's seems I know you forever,
but it's only been a year.
I've learned more than I knew before,
and now we're leaving here.
A fork in the road we stumble upon,
lost in both our worlds.
Opening empty books,
for stories yet untold.
Although we talk of future hopes
and sugar-coated reverie,
who knows if I'll ever see you again
it's tomorrow we can't see.
And though we love to mock and laugh,
enjoy to tease and taunt,
our friendship will be naught but gone
yet a memory that will haunt.
Each secret I confided in you,
each truth I let you see,
will be carried off with the rise of a plane
so far away from me.
You did to me what no one could,
you helped my soul to heal
from what had happened in the past,
that wound that couldn't seal.
We shared so much,
and fought so less,
we took and gave advice.
We really had a common ground
of what was true and nice.
We didn't hide from one another,
we didn't cheat or steal,
we spilth forth what our hearts contained
with smiles that made it real.
We spoke about
most everything,
from dreams to deja vu,
if only I could replay this year
and start it over with you.
It only seems like yesterday,
I didn't know what to do,
I was all alone in the universe,
trying hard to forget the truth.
And then you come,
like a miracle,
and rush to my very aid.
But now it seems our chain of bond
is starting to rust and fade.
But know this, friend,
when we are two,
the world is in our hands.
It twirls and whirls,
and spins and swirls,
taking us to distant lands.
You are my savior,
from dark and icy times
and know that I won't forget you
as I write to you these rhymes.
But I won't dare to say it,
a swearword in my eyes,
I barely have the heart to write
though my soul will later chide.
And I know I will regret it,
and I refuse to clearly lie,
but, my dear, beloved friend,
I'm afraid to say goodbye.
