refocused
She was running across the road
far too busy
already late for school
she never saw the van
her folder flew high into the air
carefully formulated notes breaking free like birds from their binder
a thousand hours
an ocean of ink
highlighted in a variety of colours beyond that of a rainbow
carefully catalogued
so tenderly handled
diagrams inked in with precision
codes spiralling down the spines of the pages
all gone
lost
fluttering into the gutter
the colours being overrun by that one eternal hue
what a tragedy
