Life as you Live it
Life can be dark, but it gets lighter,
Like the rising sun that gets brighter.
Life can be good, life can be bad,
Life can be happy, life can get sad.
Life can bring gifts to each new day,
Helping us to see things in a whole new way,
It’s about finding a balance between work and play.
When you’re small you’ll like planets and stars,
When you’re a teen you’ll like driving cars.
When you grow older you’ll enjoy the news,
You’ll care more about things like clothes and shoes,
Life is like a journey, so be careful what path you choose,
It is important to pay attention to all the hidden clues.
You have to pay taxes so please don’t stress,
If you forget you’ll have a real mess.
You might own a dog in the years ahead,
That will be one more mouth needing to be fed.
When you have enough money you might choose to retire,
Then you can do whatever you desire,
You might go on a cruise, change your own tire,
Or choose to replace your own telephone wire.
You remember all the moments that brought you here,
Remember the times the purpose seemed so clear,
Like your own image as you stared into the mirror.
As the end of your life is within arm’s reach,
Like the fading light on a sunlit beach.
