Good Friends
On cold and rainy mornings,
we played soccer in the storm,
laughing, smiling, joking,
soaked in our clothes,
but cheerful to the bone
Passing notes in Math class,
discussing love and hate,
discussing favourite people,
and their fortunes in their fate.
Fighting over hurtful jokes,
gossip runs ashore,
but we always reconcile,
and promise pain no more.
Giving advice to each other,
keeping praise in limits,
we formed our square of good friends,
and there was a lot to win it.
It's a shame for me,
a waste, you see,
we collapsed - our hopes did fall
The oaths we made,
we broke them all,
we split and we went asunder,
and our small, prim square of good friends,
was cast in the earth,
down under.
