a Red requiem
singing in the rain,
in black boots, yellow tights,
Red lipstick.
dampened hair, long
holes in the soles, but a soul
singing in the rain.
a Red smile, teeth
white as the polish
over the soleless boots.
singing in the rain,
a million shadows under the sun
tread across the land.
Summer Rain,
soleless boots, skipped
singing in the rain.
Red soul and Red lips,
dried by the rain,
croaked and choked.
then, people looked
saw not what beauty,
in the Red.
people listened
heard not what beauty,
in the Song.
sung in the rain,
with dampened hair, long
and soulless boots.
alone, they stood
those boots,
those soulless black boots.
Summer Rain,
a million shadows under the sun
spared no care.
walk on! walk on!
cut the Red throat,
sing no more.
