Watching and Waiting
The dusty ground below me,
The aqua sky above.
Down in the valley,
are fields of clover.
I watch and I wait,
I wait and I watch.
Birds fly in the aqua sea,
wheeling around in circles.
Suddenly the sky goes dark,
and the birds fly away.
They're watching and They're waiting,
They're waiting and They're watching.
A gloom settles over the land,
and it all goes quiet.
Over the glittering sun,
comes a circle of black.
It watches and It waits,
It waits and It watches.
After several minutes,
the light returns.
Eventually the birds come back,
and resume their song.
The eclipse came and went,
and all is back to normal.
I watched and I waited,
I waited and I watched.
