My Parents
Screaming voices vibrate the walls of my mind
Like incessant nails on a chalkboard
I try to focus on the soft voice coming out of my speaker
Singing songs of hopeful sorrow
I almost forget
About the frame being thrown
Smashing to the ground
The pristine glass shattering
The wood snapping in two separate pieces
With every raised voice
I feel my hope diminish, I
Fracture like the picture on the ground
damaged
But I can still see a smile
Peeking out from under the cracks
A shard of delight just may
Detonate my parents desolation
So we can
Again
Be the happy family
That you see
In the photo
Above the mantle
