Protector
The frosted window of hope
sits spider cracked from the
many years of battle.
Surrounded by the cobwebs
and chipping paint,
that seem to form like memories.
Slowly the icy wind claims each panel.
Frostbite shattering the corners.
but still intact it stays.
The darkness that looms outside
can not charge through its glass.
Only light may be allowed through its wooden cracks.
