Autumn
I am standing by a tree,
it is indicating Autumn.
The leaves crisp in the light of the sun
which warms the frigid air.
I hold a pencil to a canvas
and try to express the beauty I see.
How do you describe something
that makes you speechless?
A soft warm sweatshirt is worn most days
to protect sensitive skin from the chilly breeze
which causes the leaves to quiver and whisper.
Beautiful candy apple reds sprinkle to the ground,
nature is creating masterpieces everywhere.
A butterfly floats past with grace
and everyone appreciates its beautiful wings
yet he can not see them and he does not know.
A bike speeds past carrying an excited child,
pink ears soon covered by a worried mother's hat.
The leaves dance around the park,
following the music of the wind and laughter.
Warming your nose as you sip from pumpkin lattes,
whipped cream sitting on the tip,
you laugh and see your breath.
The dull sound of a plane is heard from above,
everyone looks to the still clouds.
It writes out the word 'beauty',
as if it could read my mind.
