"Fine"
“Fine”
A powerful word
Used more and more frequently every day
It carries very strong emotions
Anger, confusion, frustration
The list is endless
But they are all masked by the simplicity of this painful word
It is used to end an argument
Giving up hope
Holding back emotions
When you know you're right
Or worse
When you're wrong
It is used to avoid awkward situations
When you're asked how you are
And the real answer is just to complicated
Or too personal to say
So you just say “I'm fine.”
Just like every other person does
I don't think this word will ever change
It will always camouflage how we are
What we are thinking
Feeling
And we will continue to use it
Why?
Because it's the easiest way
