Persephone
Cold tyrant of the abyss
With your sugarcoated tongue
And bittersweet death kiss,
Your ring-encircled stout fingers spilling
Cursed glittering blood, envy, teardrops
Extracted from minds of the unwilling—
You cage me in the depths of a pit,
Offer me the confines of an iron throne
On the edge of a fiery volcanic spit,
Clip my feathered wings like a dove,
Graciously give me a garden,
Calling me your queen, your love.
You told me you were lonely,
That you were blind and needed me,
That you were my one and only.
Clumsy monster without a heart—
These six red orbs of hope are for you:
Six breaths of mine to tear us apart.
