Millions of nameless soldiers
March side by side.
But never do they win the war
That they are fighting fore.

Our cities are built on soldiers,
Brave souls such as these.
Never faltering from the stance,
Yet finding themselves never able to advance.

They do it for honor,
Humble, faceless soldier boys.
Their bones creak,
And still they have no freedom- not even to blink.

It is the smallest worker ant, not the queen,
That controls the whole colony.
No gratitude seems to leave out lips
While they slave away on their ships.

The highest of these is first to trip,
Surprising is the smallest;
Who rises to the call,
Refusing to do anything but stand tall.

Inspired by an interactive sculpture at the IMA. Thousands of tiny, identical soldiers were lined up, completely holding the floor (that you were walking on) upright.
