You Drove Away
When you walked away,
I counted the steps you took.
When you drove away,
I followed until I could no more.
The moment you vanished,
My tears began to flow.
My hands shook.
My mind went on a frenzy.
But once I stopped,
My face was simply blank.
And my chest was hollow.
And my mind was quiet.
And then I realized.
You drove off with my heart.
You drove off with my joy.
You drove off with my hopes.
You drove off with my sanity.
There was nothing left.
Nothing but an empty cocoon.
No butterfly ready to emerge.
She died in there.
Died before she could hatch.
All because you drove away.
