The Dirt Road
She’s throwing herself away,
Because she knows she needs the change,
She stays on a straight path forever,
But then plans get rearranged.
So she’s picking up her coat,
Tossing it over her shoulder,
This was more than the second time,
She avoided another boulder.
She walked on the dirt road,
With the sun’s eye only in sight,
She shook her hair loose,
And feel cool as late night.
The dress ripples in the wind,
Only farm fields on the edge of the gravel,
With a pair of walking boots on foot,
Only her cares start to unravel.
With God by her side,
Traveling at such ease,
The sun on her lips,
And a passing summer breeze.
A smirk on the corner,
Of her tilted smile,
She laughs to herself,
Since it’s been a while.
