Nerdy love
If I were a protein,
You were definitely my enzyme, while
Distorting me to my most vulnerable and unstable position,
Believe it or not, as you substrate,
I was made specifically just for you.
Remember how they say math is boring,
And nerdy and pedagogical and a plainly waste of time.
But when I see your exertion of graphing the function out,
--y=a(1+cos?)
When I see the diligence in your perfectly oval eyes,
You captured my "cardioid".
I'm so glad, because of
The catastrophic meteor impact---which was 65 million years ago,
Hitting our earth---which was created 4.5 billion years ago,
With the extinction of dinosaurs--which first appeared 220 million years ago.
Otherwise, mammals wouldn't thrive;
Hominids wouldn't stand upright;
There wouldn't be Australopithecines digging for food with sharp sticks,
Or hunting-gathering societies,
Or agricultural revolution,
Or pyramids or Confucianism or Socrates or Alexander the Great. And the worst or all--
I wouldn't meet you.
I don't like you being such a cynosure carbon.
I don't want your ability to covalently bond four times.
I don't care about your ubiquity in nature, being essential to everybody.
--Can you please, just be an ordinary hydrogen?
And share your electron, only, with me?
You tell me to fight for my dreams,
And I feel my feet lifting--
Yes, it is physically possible, when
Your gravity if stronger than that of earth.
When your words control the tides within me.
When you tell me to work hard and fight, I do.
For it's you who tell me.
