Thick smoke fades away to reveal twisted metal.
Stray parts scattered around the now desolate street.
Some escape unharmed, others surrendered to the battle.
The images distorted from the escaping heat.

The horrified faces as the damage is seen.
Tear-filled eyes as bodies are recovered.
The sun hits the metal as it glints and gleams.
Silence coming from those who have suffered.

The purpose for the horror can’t be found.
Easily avoidable, but still so prevalent.
The guilt easily noticed as eyes wander around.
The pain and regret still shockingly apparent.

Minute mistakes turn into immense disasters.
If only we could prevent such mistakes.
Things like distractions or getting dangerously faster.
A little awareness is all it takes.
