As Silly As "No Hats in a Building"
You
are
not exquisite
not perfect
but I love you
for it.
You
are
one of my
best friends
and you don’t even know.
But.
Society is undermining
and I cannot stop
thinking about you
I am
not free
to tell you
because.
An
ocean of
frivolous
unsupportive
rules
(as silly as
“no hats
in a building”)
stretches out
between us
like a prison
and I must keep
the boy in my brain
the one in my smile
the one in my eyes
caged
in
there
because if I
let him out,
everything
would go
away.
You mean too much to me
to let go.
