Sitting on the Edge of a Cliff
I hope Mom doesn't see the dust on my shorts,
I forgot to bring a blanket to the cliff.
Dangling my feet over the edge
like cherries hanging from their tree,
Cool autumn days like today,
the ones with light breeze and the harmless sun,
are the best days to be sitting on the edge of a cliff.
Cool autumn days like today
are what make the cliff so special.
No matter how dry the grass gets,
no matter how auburn and crinkly the leaves become,
no matter how much the world and I change,
the cliff remains the same.
