The Rush before the Fall
My toes grip the edge
As I look into my dreams
No one can touch me
Or I'll fail
No one can come near me
Or I'll hide
Shifting my stare out to others,
Clinging to their cliffs,
Eyes stare back at me
Dozens plead
I move to my knees
Grasp the side with my hands
And allow my legs to dangle lifelessly
Above my future hopes
One by one
Twelve becomes eleven,
Eleven becomes ten,
And so forth till I'm the only one left
No one to touch me
So I'll fail
No one to come near me
So I'll hide
My aching limbs
Give up
And I glide effortlessly
Into the lap
Of where I've fought to be
