Catatonic
When I am upset
I become very still
to stop the tears
from flowing
some look towards
the ceiling
but I look
straight ahead
and it’s not because
I cannot stand to look
where the roof blocks
my view of the sky
or
because
I want to refrain
from people
asking me
if I’m okay
(believe me
it’s better that way)
but
it’s because
when I feel
the world falling down
on top of me
it’s better
to imagine
it’s still
as still
and as silent
as I am
still.
