I love you like the pages of a book
I love you like the pages of a book,
delicately pressed to each other between the covers,
stamped with black markings,
footnotes in your corners, where others have analyzed.
Open at times, closed at others
Readable, but only if I know your language, your witty tongue and sharp thought.
I love you like the pages of a book,
half read, with lots of vocabulary
Sleep inducing
Thought inspiring.
So simple on the surface, until one begins to understand
that there is an entire world inside of you.
I love you like the pages of a book,
In the beginning when you are uncomfortable and unfamiliar
In the middle when you are sometimes down and sometimes up
In the climax when all my thoughts are centered around you
In the end, when you finally run out of words.
Even then,
I love you like the pages of a book.
