My Scars
Does he see I’m only a child
When he loves me like I’m grown?
When he tells me to look him in the eyes
Is it because he sees the innocence in mine?
Or has it gone..
I’ve only seen eight short years pass by
But have scars to compensate for a lifetime
And I trace them one by one
Three engraved in my left hand
Two in my right
Four covered by the redness in my cheeks
And these scars are the only things I have
That they won’t take away
Every passing glance
Every quick reflection
They’re still with me
