The Day
The Day we met
the overbearing sun
the sound of drums and winds
intertwining in the most odd
yet harmonic way
The Day I first saw you
dark, tousled hair
sun-kissed tan skin
shy, innocent face
that I miss so much now
The Day you first looked at me
curiosity in your eyes
then turning away
and a flutter in my heart
as the woodwinds started to play
The Day I first heard you
sweet, joyous melody
against an overbearing, sunny brass
moving, circling, prancing
until the sun went down and the instruments were put away
The Day we met
so long ago
do you remember your innocence?
your youthfulness?
that feeling for the first time?
Or has it been forgotten
under the reckless drums of life?
