We Are
We are the stars of the galaxy
Filling light in a dark space
You see us and wonder how we got here and why
And that’s a secret we shall never reveal
We are the beat of the drum
Heavy and pounding
Keeping the pulse so happy feet may move
Our rhythms are limitless and never-ending
We are the misfit toys
Our dolls have lazy eyes and our trains don’t toot
But, upon seeing us, you admire us
And believe the grass may be greener, even on our island
We are the dancers and singers
Spinning and humming to the melodies in our head
While others watch in disbelief
At our shameless twirls and imaginary tunes
To the world, we are nothing
To someone, we are everything
To ourselves, we may be unimportant
But in a dark world, we are the light
