"Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect; it means you're capable of looking beyond the imperfections." --Anonymous

From this point forward
I will not stand
to be unhappy
any longer.
I will not stand
to be broken down,
broken apart,
broken-hearted.
From this point forward
my success does not depend
on my waistline
and my strength does not depend
on my weakness.
My biggest fear is not
the nutrition label.
From this point forward
I will not worry those
who love me.
I will not look at those
with hip bones
and rib cages
and be jealous.
I will not be afraid
to eat the birthday cake
you made me.
I will not measure
every morsel as if
any more would make
it poison.
From this point forward
food is not my enemy
and Ana is not my friend.
Size zero is not beautiful
and 90 pounds is not ideal.
I am no longer
enslaved by my scale
and it is not an awful day
when I weigh enough
to donate blood.
From this point forward
the only things coming
out of my mouth will be
words.
I will no longer be called
Disgraceful,
Disgusting,
Distasteful.
From this point forward
I am
Inspired,
Indestructable,
Independent.

I absolutely love this poem!! I believe it's talking about an eating disorder and trying to face it and overcome it. This is a very serious topic, seen commonly amongst girls. I love how that's the subject because there should be awareness spread about it.

"It has been said time heals all wounds,i do not agree.the wounds remain ,in time the mind protecting its sanity covers it with scar tissue, and the pain lessons, but its never gone."

This poem is a strong transition of importance in a persons life, and also a strong perspective of the phrase"starting over". "From this point forward I am Inspired,Indestructible,Independent",this is putting into perspective on how you will view yourself as a better person once you put unnecessary worries to the side ,and also how differently you will view your self-worth .

A brilliant challenge of an impractical standard of what it is to be a perfect woman. More women should embrace this pledge. You have truly inspired me on this Friday afternoon.

Living with american girls for the past two months I see how you girls can put each other down. It's crazy how people in america care about opinions. Opinios sometimes are stupid and you took a step forward to be successful in your life. Great Job

All girls should read this, the girls who see themselves as obese and overweight who are really underweight. I'm glad you wrote this topic the way you did because if somebody had written this any other way i wouldn't have the same opinion. Good job!

Absolute perfection. This poem can be related to most, if not all, teens out there comparing themselves to someone who you think looks better. I loved the refrences; they fit in perfecty in the poem. And not only that, your choice of words was great, and it all flowed very smoothly.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Thank you for writing this for all of us. I can relate to this and I am going to show this to many people.
