Walk Away
Don’t turn around
Don’t give him the satisfaction
The satisfaction of him knowing
That each day he is gone
Is another day that I cant breathe
Just keep going
Just keep forcing
Forcing one foot in front of the other
And burying that hot, burning, hatred
To the pit of my stomach
Pushing down my anger, and frustration
And pain
All the sadness that he has caused
And drop it
Refusing to ever touch it again
Its hard
Hard to walk away from someone
Who is supposed to be there for me
Who's only job is to stay
Right by my side
Since the first breathe I ever took
Since the first time I opened my eyes
I depended,
I counted,
I needed him
To protect me
From all the hurt and harshness
That the world can give
Yet, he is the one
The one that breaks my heart
Every day
Into smaller pieces
And crushes them
With his indifference
But, I will keep my march
I will continue walking
Down an unknown road
To an unknown future
But now I know
Who I can depend on
To stay by my side when I need them the most
And who just watches me
As I walk away
