I am Swimming
I am swimming; an Iowa sunset.
The darkening sky is a blur of colors.
The water blanketing me.
Sitting on the bottom looking up for a special
luminescent smile. I am happy,
Stars sprinkling the now black sky.
In my own little world.
A simplistic joy surrounds me;
Lost-but knowing where up it.
I am covered with water
Moving through flowing hair;
Chlorine-my new perfume.
Nearly out of air, but remaining still,
I prepare to push upwards.
Wishing not to disturb the surface of glass,
I slowly break the smooth surface.
Listening now, the night is much alive.
A breath again, down down I now sit.
